Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (the District) is planning a new field office on Skyline Ridge to accommodate current and future staff in a modern and sustainable facility. Project priorities include improved circulation and workflow, enhanced amenities, and resilience to wildfire and climate change impacts. The facility will feature community meeting and administrative spaces, staff kitchen and break room, locker room with laundry facilities, warehouse storage, wood shop, welding shop, and general-purpose workshop. Additionally, covered areas for material stockpiles and heavy equipment storage will be provided, along with parking spaces for personal and fleet vehicles, including charging infrastructure for the future all-electric fleet.
Siegel & Strain Architects and the design team collaborated closely with the District through in-depth staff interviews, site visits to existing facilities, and background research to understand their culture and values. Building on this foundation, S&S developed a comprehensive spatial needs assessment, site analysis, and site test fit diagrams for multiple potential sites. Following the District’s selection of a preferred site, the team continued into the design phase on the buildings, site, and utilities, with an estimated construction completion date of 2030.
