The Tidewater Aquatic Center will bring a wide variety of boating activities to a little-used portion of Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline on the Oakland Estuary. The project is a partnership between the East Bay Regional Park District and the Oakland Strokes, a rowing club serving 200 high school youth from Oakland and surrounding communities. The Strokes will be the facilities’ primary tenant. The Center will also offer public canoeing and kayaking programs and public meeting space. Durability and sustainable design are both important considerations in the design.
